Install All Plugins for a New Wordpress Website
When moving your WordPress site to a new domain or server, you will likely run into a need to run a search/replace on the database for everything to work correctly. Fortunately, there are several plugins available for this task, however, all have a different approach to a few key features. This plugin consolidates the best features from these plugins, incorporating the following features in a simple, ad-free plugin:
The search/replace functionality is heavily based on interconnect/it's great and open-source Search Replace DB script, modified to use WordPress native database functions to ensure compatibility.

Generate and setup a favicon for desktop browsers, iPhone/iPad, Android devices, Windows 8 tablets and more. In a matter of seconds, design an icon that looks great on all major platforms.
Favicon is not just a single
favicon.ico file dropped in the middle of your site. Nowadays, with so many different platforms and devices, you need a bunch of pictures to get the job done. With RealFaviconGenerator, generate all the icons you need for desktop browsers, iPhone/iPad, Android devices, Windows 8 devices, and more.
iOS devices use a high resolution Apple touch icon to illustrate bookmarks and home screen shortcuts. A first generation iPhone needs a 57x57 picture, whereas a brand new iPad with Retina screen looks for a 152x152 picture. Android Chrome also use these pictures if it finds them. Windows 8 takes another route with a dedicated set of icons and HTML declarations.
Favicon is not only a matter of pictures with different resolutions. The various platforms coms with different UI guidelines. For example, the classic desktop favicons often use transparency. But iOS requires opaque icons. And Windows 8 has its own recommendations.
Save hours of research and image edition with RealFaviconGenerator and its companion plugin. In a matter of seconds, you setup a favicon compatible with:
We take compatibility very seriously. See http://realfavicongenerator.net/favicon_compatibility for the full list.

WordPress out of the box is already technically quite a good platform for SEO, this was true when I wrote my original WordPress SEO article in 2008 and it's still true today, but that doesn't mean you can't improve it further! This plugin is written from the ground up by WordPress SEO consultant and WordPress developer Joost de Valk to improve your site's SEO on all needed aspects. While this WordPress SEO plugin goes the extra mile to take care of all the technical optimization, more on that below, it first and foremost helps you write better content. WordPress SEO forces you to choose a focus keyword when you're writing your articles, and then makes sure you use that focus keyword everywhere.
Using the snippet preview you can see a rendering of what your post or page will look like in the search results, whether your title is too long or too short and your meta description makes sense in the context of a search result. This way the plugin will help you not only increase rankings but also increase the click through for organic search results.
The WordPress SEO plugins Linkdex Page Analysis functionality checks simple things you're bound to forget. It checks, for instance, if you have images in your post and whether they have an alt tag containing the focus keyword for that post. It also checks whether your posts are long enough, if you've written a meta description and if that meta description contains your focus keyword, if you've used any subheadings within your post, etc. etc.
The plugin also allows you to write meta titles and descriptions for all your category, tag and custom taxonomy archives, giving you the option to further optimize those pages.
Combined, this plugin makes sure that your content is the type of content search engines will love!
While out of the box WordPress is pretty good for SEO, it needs some tweaks here and there. This WordPress SEO plugin guides you through some of the settings needed, for instance by reminding you to enable pretty permalinks. But it also goes beyond that, by automatically optimizing and inserting the meta tags and link elements that Google and other search engines like so much:
With the WordPress SEO plugin you can control which pages Google shows in its search results and which pages it doesn't show. By default, it will tell search engines to index all of your pages, including category and tag archives, but only show the first pages in the search results. It's not very useful for a user to end up on the third page of your "personal" category, right?
WordPress itself only shows canonical link elements on single pages, WordPress SEO makes it output canonical link elements everywhere. Google has recently announced they would also use
rel="prev" link elements in the
head section of your paginated archives, this plugin adds those automatically, see [this post](http://yoast.com/rel-next-prev-paginated-archives/ title="rel=next & rel=prev for paginated archives") for more info.
WordPress SEO has the most advanced XML Sitemaps functionality in any WordPress plugin. Once you check the box, it automatically creates XML sitemaps and notifies Google & Bing of the sitemaps existence. These XML sitemaps include the images in your posts & pages too, so that your images may be found better in the search engines too.
These XML Sitemaps will even work on large sites, because of how they're created, using one index sitemap that links to sub-sitemaps for each 1,000 posts. They will also work with custom post types and custom taxonomies automatically, while giving you the option to remove those from the XML sitemap should you wish to.
Because of using XSL stylesheets for these XML Sitemaps, the XML sitemaps are easily readable for the human eye too, so you can spot things that shouldn't be in there.
Are you being outranked by scrapers? Instead of cursing at them, use them to your advantage! By automatically adding a link to your RSS feed pointing back to the original article, you're telling the search engine where they should be looking for the original. This way, the WordPress SEO plugin increases your own chance of ranking for your chosen keywords and gets rid of scrapers in one go!
If your theme is compatible, like most Genesis and WooThemes themes are for instance, you can use the built-in Breadcrumbs functionality. This allows you to create an easy navigation that is great for both users and search engines and will support the search engines in understanding the structure of your site.
Making your theme compatible isn't hard either, check these instructions.
Using the built-in file editor you can edit your WordPress blogs .htaccess and robots.txt file, giving you direct access to the two most powerful files, from an SEO perspective, in your WordPress install.
SEO and Social Media are heavily intertwined, that's why this plugin also comes with a Facebook OpenGraph implementation and will soon also support Google+ sharing tags.
This WordPress SEO plugin, unlike some others, is fully Multi-Site compatible. The XML Sitemaps work fine in all setups and you even have the option, in the Network settings, to copy the settings from one blog to another, or make blogs default to the settings for a specific blog.
If you have multiple blogs, setting up plugins like this one on all of them might seem like a daunting task. Except that it's not, because what you can do is simple: you set up the plugin once. You then export your settings and simply import them on all your other sites. It's that simple!
If you've used All In One SEO Pack or HeadSpace2 before using this plugin, you might want to import all your old titles and descriptions. You can do that easily using the built-in import functionality. There's also import functionality for some of the older Yoast plugins like Robots Meta and RSS footer.
Should you have a need to import from another SEO plugin or from a theme like Genesis or Thesis, you can use the SEO Data Transporter plugin, that'll easily convert your SEO meta data from and to a whole set of plugins like Platinum SEO, SEO Ultimate, Greg's High Performance SEO and themes like Headway, Hybrid, WooFramework, Catalyst etc.
Read this migration guide if you still have questions about migrating from another SEO plugin to WordPress SEO.

WP Featherlight is a WordPress lightbox plugin for adding a minimal, high-performance, responsive jQuery lightbox to your WordPress website. At its core, WP Featherlight is a WordPress plugin wrapper for the Featherlight jQuery lightbox plugin. When installed, the plugin will automatically display all standard WordPress images and galleries in a simple, minimalistic lightbox popup.
In order for WordPress images and galleries to be lightboxed, you need to select the "Media File" option when choosing where the thumbnails should link. You can also select the "Custom Link" option if you make sure to link directly to an image file. This should work for any image file, even if it's hosted on another website.
It's also possible to lightbox videos, iframes, and ajax content with WP Featherlight by adding data attributes to your content. For more details on custom content loading, check out the featherlight documentation.
There are no settings for WP Featherlight, so you should be able to install it without needing to configure anything. In the event you don't want a lightbox on certain pages or posts, there is an option to disable it from within the post editor screen.
If you find a display problem, it may be related to your theme but please open an support request about it so we can look into it. For more information about the Featherlight script itself, check out their GitHub plugin page.
While there are no options in the plugin, there are some handy filters to modify the default behavior. As of
0.3.0 all images which use the default WordPress captions will also include a caption when the image is lightboxed. To disable this behavior, filter
wp_featherlight_captions to false.

WP Clone is the easiest, fastest and most secure way to move or copy a WordPress site to another domain or hosting server. You can also use it to move your site to/from local server hosting, to create copies of your site for development or testing purposes, to backup your site, and to install pre-configured versions of WordPress.
WP Clone is a superior solution to even commercial WordPress cloning plugins for the following reasons:
We have implemented exclude-directories on the backup, and also database-only backup! By transferring the contents of 'wp-content' directory with FTP from your old site to new site, you should now be able to migrate sites of any size.
No WordPress backup plugin will work reliably on all hosts. If you have any problems, try doing a "Database Only" backup (use "Advanced Options"), transfer the wp-content directory over with FTP, and then restore new site. You should also deactivate and delete any page caching plugins (i.e. W3 Total Cache) before backup. If you still have an issue, please post to the WordPress.org support forum where we support this plugin for free, and we'll respond on a "best-effort" basis. You can also try the Duplicator plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/ which works pretty good, but is not as fast as WP Clone to migrate sites; or use the manual method described here http://members.wpacademy.com/ww3.htm?moving-wordpress.htm
WP Clone is provided free of charge to the community and supported through the plugin forums on WordPress.org. Please help defray our development expenses and help with support costs through the Donations Page Donation page.
Additional documentation, including supported hosts, at the WP Clone FAQ Page
WP Clone uses functions from the "Safe Search and Replace on Database with Serialized Data" script first written by David Coveney of Interconnect IT Ltd (UK) http://www.davidcoveney.com or http://www.interconnectit.com and released under the WTFPL http://sam.zoy.org/wtfpl/. Partial script with full changelog is placed inside 'lib/files' directory.
Smush.it offers an API that performs these optimizations (except for stripping JPEG meta data) automatically, and this plugin seamlessly integrates Smush.it with WordPress.
Every image you add to a page or post will be automatically run through Smush.it behind the scenes. You don’t have to do anything different.
You can also run your existing images through Smush.it via the WordPress
Media Library. Click on the
Smush.it now! link for any image you'd like to smush.
As of version 1.4.0 there is a new, experimental
Bulk Smush.it feature. You can find the link under the
Media Library tab.

Plugin updates are announced on http://www.twitter.com/TheCHANGELOG.
Up until now the way theme and plugin developers find where to hook into with their add_action() and add_filter() functions is either to search through the WordPress code base, or find find a reference to the hook in the codex.
What Simply Show Hooks does is give you a simpler way to see these hooks by displaying them in-line on the page that you are on. All that's left to do then is copy the hook you need, and paste it in to your add_action and add_filter functions like this: add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'my_enqueue_scripts_action' ); add_filter( 'the_title', 'my_the_title_filter' );
I made this plugin so I could find WordPress hooks quicker and I use it all the time, so I thought I'd share it and see if it could help others.
Please note that in odd cases, due to the nature of actions and filters, the plugin may display a hook in place that disrupts the display of your site - in which case we always display the 'Hide Hooks' button so you can switch it back off. This won't disrupt the look of you site to anyone but you so don't worry.
